Beautiful hair state is not just sign of beauty but also a reflection of one’s overall well-being. Most people don’t know this but with our years of experience in the hair industry, we have learned that a person can use all the best hair products in the world that money can buy but he or she will not be able to achieve optimal results without adhering to the cardinal rule of hair care – washing hair properly and regularly.

Always use a professional product recommended by your Alan Coban Stylist.

Hair Trend Alert: Undone Waves

One of the newest hairstyle this season is a bit messed up. The “undone waves” is best with long hair which features chunky and voluminous layers with beautiful uneveness and subtle textures.

You might be wondering how this hairstyle can be achieved. It actually is very simple, use a 2-inch curling iron and curl random sections of hair leaving the ends untouched or uncurled. Spritz some sea salt texturizing spray to hold the style in place.

Q & A: Do I need to wash my hair prior to my hair appointment?

Here’s a hair myth that we’re sure many of us have come to believe: unwashed hair takes hair colorants better than clean strands. The truth is, top hair colorists need their client’s hair to be washed and totally clean before applying color to them. Dirt, hair styling products and other environmental impurities from unwashed hair may conceal its true color, making it difficult to determine the right hue for you. Our advice, wash your hair thoroughly before stepping into the salon.

The Best Hairstyle For Second-Day Strands

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive here at Alan Coban Hair Studio is related to styling second-day hair. There are days when we don’t have time to lather up our hair and the traditional ponytail has always been a dependable hairstyle choice in making unwashed strands look more polished. Aside from gathering your hair into a pony, we find that a low-key updo like this one from Jessica Alba.

Steal this look by spritzing dry shampoo from the roots to the mid-lengths to create volume. Blow dry hair to add texture or grip to the hair. Gather hair into a low ponytail and secure it with an elastic hair tie. Wrap the length around the base of the ponytail and secure it with a bobby pin. Allow several tendrils to fall out to add more sophistication to the look. Finish by spritzing on some hairspray to keep the style in place.
