Big Body Hair Boost

Kick off
To get a show-stopping vivacious volume start by washing and conditioning hair.

Dry out
After shampooing, towel dry hair gently and apply a holding mousse. Using a medium to high setting, blog dry your hair using a large barrel hair brush. Be sure to twist, twist, twist as you go for maximum height and body.

Take two
Make sure curls last all night with two top techniques. Firstly wrap 2-3 inch strands of hair around velcro rollers. Leave to set. Once you have removed the curlers, use a large barrel curling iron to add more definition where needed.

Shake out
Loosen up those curl using your fingers. Finish with a light mist of hair spray.

From baroque-inspired bejewelled bands to floral festival-chic numbers, headwear is where it’s at.

  • Keep things playful with cat ears, head down the girlie route with some lace and glitter, or go for all-out elegance with sweet embellishments

A guide to brushes

1. Paddle brush
Best for creating a smooth blow-dry on long, thick hair. Depending
on what it’s made out of, it can help reduce frizz too.
TRY: GHD Paddle Brush, $34

2. Radial/round brush
A great all-rounder, but especially good for creating volume and lift from the roots on fine hair, or a natural-looking wave on thick hair.
TRY: Moroccanoil Ceramic Barrel Brush 25mm, $24.60

3. Soft-bristled brush
This is my favourite because it’s so versatile. From back-combing and brushing out curls to smoothing lumps and bumps when creating a ponytail or up-do, this is your brush.

4. Tangle Teezer
The new wide-toothed comb, this is perfect for untangling freshly washed hair because it doesn’t cause breakage.
TRY: Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash in Pink Shrimp, $32.95, tangle-teezer.com.au

5. Tail comb
Good when creating a severe parting or to section off the hair when braiding – it can help to make your look more precise.
